Drugs Health & Happiness 2025

Despite strong evidence of its benefits, access to harm-reduction services for addictive problems remains limited in the U.S. This event will explore the sociopolitical backdrop to U.S. drug policy, research, and treatment, and provide attendees with core harm-reduction information and strategies for working with addictive problems. Understanding the impact of U.S. drug policy on research and treatment for addictive problems will help attendees empathize with client experiences and support client autonomy in clinical work. Life saving harm-reduction strategies such as naloxone administration will be discussed, along with population specific concerns for acutely impacted communities (people of color, LGBTQ+).
